Free Browser Button

With our free browser button you can freeze any Web page you visit with a single mouse click!

Overview

When you are surfing the Web, clicking the button opens up a new window where the current Web page is frozen. You can continue browsing in the original window.

Here you see our button as it will look on your toolbar. It only takes a second to put it there.

You can easily add the button to your personal toolbar which is included in Internet Explorer and most other Web browsers. No installation is needed, just drag and drop.

How to add the button

If you don’t see the toolbar on your Web browser right now, select the following from the menu:

  • If you use Internet Explorer: Select the View menu > Select Toolbars on the menu > Make sure the Links menu item is checked.
  • If you use Mozilla or Netscape: Select the View menu > Select Show/Hide on the menu > Make sure the Personal Toolbar menu item is checked.

When you see the toolbar, you can place our button on it simply by dragging it from here (your computer may display a warning - you can safely ignore it):

FreezePage

If it doesn’t work, please refer to the Troubleshooting section below.

Using the button

Please notice that you need to be a FreezePage member to use the button. It’s free and it only takes a minute to sign up.

If you are a member and you have successfully placed the button on your toolbar, it should be ready to use. To test the button, go to another Web page (for instance, click here to open up Yahoo!™ in a new window) and try clicking on the button.

When you are on a Web page and you click the button, the page you are viewing will be frozen automatically in a new browser window. You won’t have to go to FreezePage and enter its address manually.

Troubleshooting

If you have problems adding the button, please try the following:

  • If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, you may need to add FreezePage to your list of trusted sites before adding the button:
    1. Select the Tools menu.
    2. Select Internet Options... on the menu.
    3. Select the Security tab.
    4. Select the Trusted sites icon.
    5. Click on the Sites... button.
    6. Uncheck the Require server verification... checkbox.
    7. In the Add this Web site to the zone field, type: *.freezepage.com
    8. Click the Add button.
    9. Click OK twice.
After you install the button, you can remove FreezePage from the list of trusted sites, if you want.
  • If you use Mozilla, you may need to drag the browser button to the Bookmarks button, then place it in the Personal Toolbar Folder on the menu that appears.

If the above procedure does not work, you can try to create the button manually (see below).

Manual Installation

  1. Drag the FreezePage logo (or any other link) to the toolbar.
  2. Right-click on the new FreezePage shortcut on the toolbar and select Properties.
  3. In the URL (web address) field, delete the web address and copy-paste the following JavaScript code instead:
    javascript:var a=window.document.location.href;void(a.indexOf('freezepage.com')==-1?window.open ('http://www.freezepage.com/browser.cgi?'+a):alert('You cannot use this button at FreezePage'));
Be sure to copy it exactly as it is shown here; starting with “javascript:” and ending with a semi colon.
  4. Click OK. (If a dialog box tells you “The protocol ‘javascript’ does not have a registered program” and asks “Do you want to keep this target anyway?”, choose Yes.)
